Temperature Blend Door Actuator Removal All vehicles 1. WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before repairing or replacing any front or side air bag supplemental restraint (SRS) components and before servicing, replacing, adjusting or striking components near the front or side air bag sensors, such as doors, instrument panel, console, door latches, strikers, seats and hood latches. To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. Be sure to disconnect auxiliary batteries and power supplies (if equipped). Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01. Vehicles equipped with floor console 2. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to Section 501-12. All vehicles 3. Remove the floor duct panel. Remove the pin-type retainers and release the expander clip. 4. Remove the RH instrument panel brake. 1. Remove the nut. 2. Remove the bolt. 3. Remove the brace. 5. Remove the LH instrument panel lower nut and position the brace aside. 6. Disconnect the restraints control module (RCM) electrical connector. 7. Remove the RCM and bracket assembly. 1. Remove the bracket retaining bolts. 2. Remove the RCM and bracket assembly. Vehicles equipped with rear airflow duct 8. Cut the rear seat airflow duct along both sides. Fold back carpet. Cut rear seat airflow duct. 9. Fold the air duct rearwards. All vehicles 10. Remove the floor duct. 1. Remove the two screws (one each side). 2. Remove the floor duct. 11. Remove the electronic blend door actuator. 1. Disconnect the connector. 2. Remove the screws. 3. Pull down to release the actuator shaft and remove the electronic blend door actuator. Installation All vehicles 1. Install the electronic blend door actuator. 1. Connect the actuator shaft. 2. Install the screws. 3. Connect the connector. 2. Install the floor duct. 1. Install the floor duct. 2. Install the two screws (one each side). Vehicles equipped with rear airflow duct 3. Zip-tie the rear airflow duct to floor duct. 4. Reposition the carpet. All vehicles WARNING: The tightening torque of the restraints control module (RCM) retaining bolts is critical for correct system operation. 5. Install the RCM and bracket assembly. 6. Connect the restraints control module (RCM) electrical connector.

For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in Section 501-20B. 2. Remove the floor duct panel. Remove the pin-type retainers and release the expander clip. 3. Remove the RH instrument panel brake. 1. Remove the nut. 2. Remove the bolt. 3. Remove the brace. 4. Remove the LH instrument panel lower nut and position the brace aside. 5. Disconnect the restraints control module (RCM) electrical connector. 6. Remove the RCM and bracket assembly. 1. Remove the bracket retaining bolts. 2. Remove the RCM and bracket assembly. Vehicles equipped with rear airflow duct 7. Cut the rear seat airflow duct along both sides. Fold back carpet. Cut rear seat airflow duct. ? 8. Fold the air duct rearwards. All vehicles 9. Remove the floor duct. 1. Remove the two screws (one each side). 2. Remove the floor duct. 10. Remove the electronic blend door actuator. 1. Disconnect the connector. 2. Remove the screws. 3. Pull down to release the actuator shaft and remove the electronic blend door actuator. Installation All vehicles 1. Install the electronic blend door actuator. 1. Connect the actuator shaft. 2. Install the screws. 3. Connect the connector. 2. Install the floor duct. 1. Install the floor duct. 2. Install the two screws (one each side). Vehicles equipped with rear airflow duct 3. Zip-tie the rear airflow duct to floor duct. 4. Reposition the carpet. All vehicles WARNING: The tightening torque of the restraints control module (RCM) retaining bolts is critical for correct system operation. 5. Install the RCM and bracket assembly. 6. Connect the restraints control module (RCM) electrical connector. 7. Install the LH instrument panel lower nut. 8. Install the RH instrument panel brace. Install the brace. Install the nut. Install the bolt. 9. Install the floor duct panel. Install the pin-type retainers and release the expander clip. 10. Repower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in Section 501-20B.

Steering Column Disassembly 1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). 2. Remove horn pad and steering wheel (3600). 3. Remove steering column from vehicle. 4. Remove lower U-joint, spring sensor ring and tolerance ring. Column Shift 5. Remove turn indicator cancel cam (13318) by pushing up with flat-bladed screwdriver. Note direction of flush surface. 6. Remove bearing retainer (3C610) and steering column upper bearing spring (3520). 7. Remove steering column bearing sleeve (3518) and steering column bearing tolerance ring (3L539). 8. Remove ignition switch (11572). 9. Remove shift lock actuator retaining screws and remove shift lock actuator. 10. Remove transmission column shift selector tube (7212) and transmission shift selector position insert (7A216) (column shift only). 11. Using a drift, tap steering column lock lever pin (3B663) loose. Remove steering column lock lever pin with diagonal pliers. Remove steering column lock pawl (3E691). 12. Remove plastic bearing retainer from lock cylinder housing bore. 13. Remove steering column lock housing bearing (3E700) from lock cylinder housing bore. 14. Remove steering column lock gear (3E717). 15. WARNING: THE STEERING COLUMN POSITION SPRING (3D655) WILL RELEASE WHEN THE PIVOT BOLTS ARE REMOVED. Remove two pivot bolts. Use caution as steering column position spring will release when bolts are removed. Remove steering column lock cylinder housing (3511). 16. Remove steering shaft from steering column. 17. Remove steering column lock lever actuator (3E715). 18. Remove steering column lower bearing retainer (3D681) and steering column lower mounting bracket. 19. Remove tilt lock lever pivot pin using a drift. Remove steering column locking levers and springs. Assembly 1. Install steering shaft into steering actuator housing (3F723). 2. Install steering column lower bearing retainer and steering column lower mounting bracket. Tighten screws to 7-11 Nm (62-97 lb-in). 3. Install sensor ring, tolerance ring and spring to steering shaft.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01. 2. Remove instrument panel (04320). Refer to Section 01-12. 3.
Remove four A/C electronic blend door actuator retaining screws. 4. Remove A/C electronic blend door actuator. A/C Electronic Blend Door Actuator Installation 1. Insert A/C electronic blend door actuator into A/C air temperature control door (19D842) (manually moving A/C air temperature control door will help engage shaft). 2. Attach A/C electronic blend door actuator with four retaining screws. 3. Install instrument panel. Refer to Section 01-12. 4. Connect battery ground cable. Refer to Section 14-01.

1. If equipped, remove the floor duct panel. Remove the two plastic push pins (one each side) and release the expander clip. 2. If equipped, remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to Section 501-12 . 3. Remove the RH instrument panel brace. 1. Remove the lower nut. 2. Remove the upper bolt. 3. Remove the brace. 4. Remove the LH instrument panel lower nut and position brace aside. 5. Remove the floor duct. 1. Remove the two screws (one each side). 2. Remove the floor duct. 6. NOTE: Rotate the vacuum control motor to disconnect the vacuum control motor rod from the panel/floor door. Remove the panel/floor door vacuum control motor (18A318). 1. Disconnect the vacuum line connector. 2. Remove the panel/floor door vacuum control motor screws. 3. Slide the rod out to the door and remove the panel/floor door vacuum control motor. 7. Remove the electronic actuator. 1. Disconnect the electronic actuator electrical connector. 2. Remove the three actuator screws. 3. Pull down to release the actuator shaft and remove the electronic actuator.
