Actuator Electronic Blend Door Removal 1. Make sure the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position. 2. WARNING: To avoid the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, notes and instructions in the deactivation procedure. Deactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to Section 501-20B. 3. Connect the battery ground cable. 4. Position the front seats rearward. 5. Disconnect the battery ground cable. 6. Through the glove compartment opening, remove the instrument panel support brace bolt. 7. Disconnect the aspirator hose from the housing. 8. Disconnect the RH bulkhead connector. 1. Loosen the bolt. 2. Disconnect the RH bulkhead connector. 9. Close the glove compartment door. 10. Remove the RH lower instrument panel insulator. 1. Disconnect the power point electrical connector. 2. Remove the courtesy lamp from the lamp socket. 3. Remove the RH lower instrument panel insulator. 11. Remove the tunnel brace trim cover. 12. Remove the instrument panel tunnel brace. 1. Remove the nuts. 2. Remove the brace. 13. Position the steering column brace aside. 1. Remove the nut. 2. Position the steering column brace aside. 14. Separate the intermediate shaft from the steering column shaft. 1. Remove and discard the pinch bolt. 2. Separate the intermediate shaft from the steering column shaft. 15. Position the RH and LH cowl side trim panels aside. Position the RH and LH front door weatherstrips aside. 16. Remove the RH and LH A-pillar trim panels. 17. Remove the instrument panel defroster grille. 1. Unclip the instrument panel defroster opening grille. 2. Disconnect the connectors. 3. Remove the instrument panel defroster opening grille. 18. Remove the three instrument panel cowl top screws. 19. Remove the RH instrument panel cowl side nut. 20. Remove the LH instrument panel cowl side nut. 21. Remove the lower instrument panel cowl side bolt.

Removal 1. Disconnect battery ground cable. Disconnect positive battery cable and wait one minute for the air bag diagnostic monitor (14B056) to deplete the air bag backup power supply. Refer to Section 01-20B. 2. Loosen main wiring connector bolt in engine compartment at LH side of dash panel (01610) and separate connectors. 3. Disconnect the radio-to-antenna wiring. Refer to Section 15-02. 4. Remove both RH and LH windshield side garnish mouldings (03598) . 5. Remove safety belt anchor bolts. Remove screws retaining both RH and LH front door scuff plates (13208) . Lift front door scuff plates and remove front door opening weatherstrips (20708) from body flanges. Scuff Plate, Front Door 6. Remove the RH and LH cowl side trim panels (02344) . 7. Remove the steering column. Refer to Section 11-04, Removal and Installation, Steering Column. 8. Remove one screw and A/C evaporator register duct (19B680) from under the steering column tube (3514) . 9. Loosen main wiring connector bolt at LH side of steering column opening and separate connectors. 10. Disconnect stoplight switch wiring connector and on manual transmission disconnect the clutch pedal position switch wiring connector. Wiring Connectors, Pedals

1. If equipped with power seats, move the seat fully rearward. 2. Remove the passenger air bag. For additional information, refer to Section 501-20B. 3. Remove the driver air bag. For additional information, refer to Section 501-20B. 4. NOTE: On vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions, move the shift lever to the 1 position to ease removal. Carefully pry to release the (A) clips and remove the (B) steering column opening cover. 5. Position the electrical connector aside. Release the push clip from the lower instrument panel steering column cover (044F08). 6. Pull to release the three (A) clips and remove the (B) fuse door. 7. Position the hood latch release handle aside. 1. Remove the screws. 2. Position the hood latch release handle aside. 8. Position the parking brake release handle aside. 1. Remove the screws. 2. Position the parking brake release handle aside. 9. If equipped, remove the instrument panel floor duct panel. Remove the two push clips and release the expander clip. 10. Remove the lower instrument panel steering column cover (04459). 1. Remove the bolts. 2. Remove the lower instrument panel steering column cover. 11. Remove the LH and RH scuff plates. 12. Remove the LH and RH cowl side trim panels. 13. Disconnect the brake pedal position (BPP) switch electrical connector. 14. Remove the (A) radio ground and the (B) GEM/CTM ground bolts. 15. Disconnect the LH instrument panel main harness connectors.

For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in Section 501-20B. 2. Lock the steering column. 3. Remove the front seats. For additional information, refer toSection 501-10. 4. Remove the screws and position the parking brake release handle aside. 5. Remove the RH and LH scuff plates. 1. Remove the eight screws. 2. Remove the RH and LH scuff plates. 6. NOTE: LH side shown. RH side similar. Remove the LH and RH cowl side trim panels. ? Remove the pin-type retainer. 7. Remove the screws and position the hood release handle aside. 8. Remove the instrument panel steering column cover. 1. Remove the screws. 2. Remove the steering column cover. 9. Remove the instrument panel steering column opening cover reinforcement. ? Remove the bolts and remove the reinforcement. 10. Disconnect the brake pedal position (BPP) switch electrical connector. 11. If equipped, disconnect the clutch pedal position (CPP) switch electrical connector. 12. If equipped, disconnect the shift cable from the steering column. 1. Disconnect the shift cable from the steering column shift tube lever. 2. Disconnect the shift cable from the steering column bracket. 13. Disconnect the upper intermediate steering shaft from the steering column shaft. ? Remove the pinch bolt. 14. Remove the LH and RH assist handles. 15. NOTE: RH side shown. LH side similar.
