Engine vibration, rpm fluctuations at idle, or poor accelerator response along with codes P2020 (P0172), P2046, P201C or P201A may be caused by a tear in the partial load vent hose at the connection to the crankcase. Air will bypass the mass air sensor — i.e. unmeasured air will enter the intake — causing the engine to run lean. The remedy: 1. Remove the supercharger. Refer to WIS document AR09.50-P-4705QK. 2.Remove and install partial load vent hose for crankcase ventilation. 3.Install the supercharger according to the WIS document above. Note: Use a “click clamp” as specified in parts information for securing hose. Ensure that the clamp is positioned as close to the end of the hose as possible and fastened tight. WARNING: Do not run the engine while the protective components are removed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury. All vehicles 1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. 2. Drain the cooling system. Supercharged vehicles 3. Remove the supercharger degas bottle. All vehicles 4. Remove the front air deflector. 1 Remove the pin-type retainers. 2 Remove the front air deflector. 5. Remove the upper hose from the radiator. 1 Release the clamp. 2 Disconnect the hose. 6. Remove the degas bottle hose from the radiator. 1 Release the hose clamp and slide it away from the end of the hose. 2 Slide the overflow hose off the radiator fitting. 7. Remove the fan blade assembly and fan clutch. 1 Use the fan pulley holding wrench to hold the water pump pulley steady. 2 Use the fan clutch nut wrench to remove the fan blade and the fan clutch. 7. Remove the fan blade assembly and fan clutch. 1 Use the fan pulley holding wrench to hold the water pump pulley steady. 2 Use the fan clutch nut wrench to remove the fan blade and the fan clutch. 9. NOTE: If the lead retaining clip is broken, install a new lead retaining clip. If equipped, disconnect the fan clutch electrical connector and lead retaining clip. 10. Remove the fan blade and fan shroud out of the vehicle together. 11. Remove the bolts and separate the fan blade assembly from the fan clutch. 12. NOTE: To avoid stripping the threads, use the correct bolts when installing a new fan clutch. Use’ bolts 575632-S426 for fan clutch F85A-8A616 and bolts N602548-S426 for fan clutch 2L34-8A616 and 2C64-8A616. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

2002 Ford F 150 Crankshaft Pulley – Supercharged Engines Removal

Removal 1. Remove the supercharger drive belt. 2. Remove the fan blade, clutch and shroud. 3. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. 4. Remove the nut and position the shield aside. 5. Remove the transmission cooler line clip. 6. Remove the two nuts and one bolt. 7. Remove the starter motor. 8. Install the special tool. 9. Remove the accessory drive belt. 10. NOTE: The auxiliary supercharger pulley has left-hand threads. Remove the pulley and brace assembly. 11. Remove the supercharger pulley adapter. 12. Remove the bolt. 13. Using the special tool, remove the crankshaft pulley. Installation 1. NOTE: The crankshaft pulley must be installed within four minutes after applying the silicone. Apply silicone gasket and sealant to the Woodruff key slot on the crankshaft pulley. 2. Using the special tool, install the crankshaft pulley. 3. Install the bolt and washer. Tighten the bolt in four stages. Stage 1: Tighten to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.) . Stage 2: Loosen the bolt. Stage 3: Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) . Stage 4: Tighten an additional 85 – 90° . 4. Install the supercharger pulley adapter. 5. Install the drive belt. 6. NOTE: Coat the threads of the supercharger pulley with anti-seize lubricant. NOTE: The auxiliary supercharger pulley has left-hand threads. Install the pulley and brace assembly. 7. Remove the special tool. 8. Install the starter motor. 9. Position the transcooler line clip and install the two nuts and one bolt. 10. 11. 12. 13. Position the shield and install the nut. Lower the vehicle. Install the fan blade, clutch and shroud. Install the accessory drive belt and the supercharger drive belt.

Vehicles without supercharger 1. NOTE: Cap the vent hose to minimize coolant loss. Detach the coolant expansion tank. ^ Detach the vent hose. ^ Remove the coolant expansion tank retaining bolt. Vehicles with supercharger 2. NOTE: Cap the vent hoses to minimize coolant loss. Detach the coolant expansion tank. ^ Detach the vent hoses. ^ Remove the coolant expansion tank retaining bolt. 2003 Jaguar S-Type V8-4.2L All vehicles 3. Detach the coolant expansion tank. 4. Disconnect the coolant expansion tank low level sensor. 5. NOTE: Make sure the retaining clip is not removed. NOTE: Cap the coolant expansion tank lower hose to minimize coolant loss. Detach the coolant expansion tank lower hose. ^ Remove the coolant expansion tank.
