Some customers may experience a crank and “No start” condition accompanied by immobiliser DTC B2799 and/or B2780, B2784, B2796, B2797, B279A. A production change has been made to the Transponder key ECU. Use the following repair procedure to address these customer concerns. Repair Procedure 1. Verify that the vehicle will crank but not start. 2. Perform Health check and look for any immobiliser system DTCs. 3. If there are any immobiliser DTC’s present, test the vehicle using all keys. If the condition is present with all the keys, proceed to step 4. If the problem is isolated to a single key, refer to the repair manual diagnostic chart for the speci?c DTC. 4. Replace transponder key ECU. • 2007 / 2008 Tundra: Vehicle Interior – Theft Deterrent / Keyless Entry – Engine Immobiliser – Transponder Key ECU: “Removal” A. Location of the Transponder Key ECU Assembly is on the Air Conditioning Unit between bulkhead on the left. B. Back side of Air Conditioning Unit, where the Transponder Key ECU Assembly is mounted. C. Remove the Transponder Key ECU Assembly from the Air Conditioning Unit, by sliding the lower half out and moving downwards to release the top. 5. Install new Transponder Key ECU. • 2007 / 2008 Tundra: Vehicle Interior – Theft Deterrent / Keyless Entry – Engine Immobiliser – Transponder Key ECU: “Installation” 6. Connect TIS Techstream and clear all stored DTCs. 7. Verify Proper Operation of Immobilizer System.

2010 TOYOTA TUNDRA SPARE TIRE LOCK Installation

1. Assemble Jack Handle and Lower Spare Tire. (a) Remove the tool bag from the storage location (Fig. 3-1 on page 3) (b) Assemble the jack handle (3) and extensions rods (1 & 2) (Fig. 1-1). (c) Insert the square end of the extension rod through the access hole in the bumper and into the lowering screw (Fig. 1-2). (d) Turn counterclockwise making sure the jack handle remains firmly fitted to the extension rods. (e) Lower the tire partially from the vehicle to a suitable height allowing access to the lowering screw. (1) Ensure the wheel is safely supported in that position to prevent the spare tire from swaying during the spare tire lock installation. 2. Spare Tire Lock Installation. (a) Install the spare tire lock assembly into the lowering screw (Fig. 2-1). (1) Line up the cross pin on the spare tire lock with the slot on the lowering screw. Press the spare tire lock in place until fully seated into the bottom of the lowering screw. (b) Assemble the key assembly onto the hooked extension rod (Fig. 2-2). (c) Insert the extension rod with key through the access hole in the rear bumper (Fig. 2-3). (d) Rotate key in the lock assembly until the lock and key patterns engage. (e) Turn the jack handle clockwise making sure that the jack handle remains firmly fitted to the extension rod raising the tire until it is stowed in its original position. 3. Installation Completion (a) Disassemble the extension rod and key. (b) Place the key into the tool bag and stow with jack in the vehicle storage area (Fig. 3-1). (c) Place the ID card, order form, customer notice card and instruction sheet in the McGard envelope. (d) Place the envelope into the glove compartment.

(a) Remove outer grill plastic insert. Remove five (5) bolts from grill. (Fig. 2-1) (b) Apply the 1 7/8”(48mm) mylar strips to outer bracket locations. (Fig. 2-2) (c) Open hood. Attach outer brackets using nylon insert. (Fig. 2-3) (d) Remove 6 nuts at grill to hood locations. (Fig. 2-4) (e) Once the fasteners are removed from steps 2a and 2d, the grill should naturally cause a gap along the top edge of the hood (Fig. 2-5). If additional clearance is needed, push slightly on the grill to create a larger gap. Take caution not to push excessively on grill or outboard clips (not visible) may snap (Fig. 2-6). (f) Dry thoroughly. Apply 3 mylar strips in between hood and grill, leave enough overlap to cover hood. Use the 43” (1092mm) strip for the center section, and add the 4” (102mm) pieces to cover the remaining area on hood. (Fig. 2-6) (g) Gently slide shield into place and center. Be sure the shield is fully seated (Fig. 2-7). If additional clearance is needed, push slightly on the grill to create a larger gap. Take caution not to push excessively on grill or outboard clips (not visible) may snap (Fig. 2-6). Insert center grill screw through grill and shield (Fig. 2-7). (h) Retighten all screws in the grill. (Fig. 2-8). Torque = 52 in-lbf (i) Attach outer brackets to shield using machine screws. (Fig. 2-9) (j) Replace bolts in front of grill and replace grill plastic insert. (Fig. 2-10) (k) Remove masking from hood protector.

REMOVAL 1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM HINT : At the time of installation, please refer to the following item. Evacuate air from refrigeration system. Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant. Specified amount: 600 ±50 g (21.16 ±1.76 oz.) 2. DISCONNECT LIQUID TUBE 5VZ-FE Shown a. Using SST, remove the piping clamp. SST 09870-00025 (Liquid tube) 1. Insert SST to piping clamp. HINT : Confirm the direction of the piping clamp claw and SST using the illustration showing on the caution label. 2. Push down SST and release the clamp lock. NOTE: Be careful not to deform the tubes, when pushing SST. 3. Pull SST slightly and push the release lever, then remove the piping clamp with SST. 4. Remove the piping clamp from SST. b. Disconnect the both tubes.

REMOVAL 1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER 2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT 3. DISCONNECT UPPER RADIATOR HOSE 4. DISCONNECT PS PUMP FROM ENGINE a. Disconnect the 2 PS air hoses from the air intake chamber and resonator. b. Remove the bolt holding the PS pressure tube clamp to the frame. c. Remove the drive belt. d. Remove the bolt and nut, and disconnect the PS pump from the engine. 5. w/ A/C: DISCONNECT A/C COMPRESSOR FROM ENGINE a. Disconnect the A/C compressor connector. b. Remove the drive belt. c. Remove the 4 bolts, and disconnect the A/C compressor from the engine. 6. LOOSEN FAN WITH FLUID COUPLING AND FAN PULLEYS 7. REMOVE DRIVE BELT FOR GENERATOR 8. REMOVE NO.2 FAN SHROUD 9. REMOVE FAN WITH FLUID COUPLING AND FAN PULLEYS 10. w/ A/C: REMOVE A/C COMPRESSOR BRACKET Remove the 5 bolts and A/C compressor bracket. 11. DISCONNECT UPPER RADIATOR HOSE 12. REMOVE NO.2 TIMING BELT COVER a. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector from the No. 2 timing belt cover. b. Disconnect the 4 high-tension cord clamps from the No. 2 timing belt cover.
