2004 – 2006 MAZDA3 DESCRIPTION There have been a variety of electrical problems reported where the root cause may be a poorly secured connector, unsecured wire, or bent terminal or pin to the PJB. Many of these problems have occurred after the PJB was removed and reinstalled, as is done for the HVAC diffuser plate or in-cabin filter installation. Examples of these problems include the following: While performing diagnostics, there is no communication with the PJB Door Ajar Light remains on with all of the doors closed Dome light remains on with doors closed or it is inoperative Fog Lights are inoperative A/C not cooling and compressor is inoperative Power door locks are inoperative Turn signals or hazards are inoperative Brake or ABS light remains on with no system problems found Dimmer switch is inoperative Keyless entry is inoperative (with ignition key reminder NOT on with key removed from the ignition). If a vehicle is presenting electrical problems and during diagnosis there are symptoms present that lead you to suspect a poor connection between a wiring harness connector and the PJB, inspect each harness connector and mating terminal on the PJB to determine if they have a proper connection by performing the inspection procedure below. INSPECTION PROCEDURE 1. Record all DTC(s) if any are present. 2. Record all preset radio stations.NOTE: Perform steps 4 and 5 for each of the connectors to the PJB (J-01 – J-06), one at a time, before moving onto step 6.

NOTE: Turn signals can be removed with headlight assemblies installed. – Carefully press out release lever toward rear using screwdriver. The position of the release lever depends on the headlight version: – Standard headlights: release lever is attached to headlight housing – Three-way headlights: release lever is attached to turn signal – - Press catch (lever) slightly down (arrow) and push turn signal lens out toward front. Disconnect harness connector and rotate and remove bulb assembly.

Refer to Turn Signals – Service and Repair – Procedures See: Turn Signals/Service and Repair Protect bumper using cloth backed tape in headlight area to prevent damage to paint. – Remove bolt (arrow) 6 Nm (53 in lb) – - – Remove two bolts (arrows) 6 Nm (53 in lb) Disconnect headlight harness connector. Disconnect headlight beam adjusting motor harness connector. 1998 Audi A4 Quattro Sedan L4-1.8L Turbo (AEB) – Pull headlight out from peg mount at side (approx. 15 mm), lift slightly and then lift out carefully toward front, rotating if necessary. Installing – - – Install in reverse order of removal. Always align headlights to adjacent body panels (gap clearances) before securing. Adjust headlights after assembly. See: Adjustments

Locking and unlocking the vehicle The central locking system locks and unlocks all the doors, the boot lid and the tank flap. It can be operated
with the remote control or by turning the key in the lock. Remote control keys Press the appropriate button for about 1 second. e Unlocking button: Open one of the doors within about 60 seconds, otherwise the vehicle will lock itself again automatically. r Unlocking button for boot lid: Press the button for at least 1 second. t Locking button: The turn signals flash once to confirm that the doors and boot lid are properly closed
