DTC FOR VARIABLE VALVE TIMING CONTROL FUNCTION APPLIED VEHICLES: All 1997 – 2007 with Variable Valve Timing APPLIED ENGINES: VQ35; VH41, VK45; VK56 IF YOU CONFIRM The MIL is on with any of the following DTCs stored: P0011, P0014, P0021, P0024, P1110, P1135, NOTE: The engine may also have Camshaft Sprocket rattle noise and/or other engine noise. ACTION Do Not replace the variable valve timing Solenoid Valve or the Sprocket(s) without performing the complete diagnostics indicated in the EC section of the Service Manual. The first steps in the complete diagnostic is to make sure the: • Engine oil is at the operating level; add oil if needed. Refer to the Service Manual for low oil level diagnoses if needed. • Oil pressure is normal when measured with a gauge at the pressure switch port. Refer to the Service Manual for low oil pressure diagnoses if needed.

50. Install the timing chain guide. Tighten to 12 Nm . Install the crankshaft sprocket. 52. Install the chain tensioning tool 303-532 to the exhaust camshaft sprocket. Reposition the sprocket (and the VVT unit) for the most advantageous position for use of the tool. Remove the tool. 53. Install the primary timing chain. Install the primary chain over the crankshaft sprocket and the WT unit sprocket. There must be no slack on the drive side of the primary chain and the WT unit must not be rotated on the camshaft. 54. Install the timing chain tensioner blade. Tighten to 14 Nm . Install the primary chain tensioner assembly. Use a wedge 303-533 (or two if required) between the primary chain tensioner and tensioner blade, to take up the slack in the chain. Tighten to 12 Nm . 56. Tighten the exhaust camshaft sprocket securing bolt. Install the chain tensioner tool 303-532 to the sprocket holes. Apply force to the tool in an anti-clockwise direction to tension the chain on its drive side. While applying the opposing force to sprocket and chain, tighten the sprocket bolt. 57. Tighten the VVT unit bolt. While still applying the opposing force to the sprocket and chain (using 303-532), check that the wedges are still in place, tighten the VVT unit bolt. Remove the chain tensioning tool and the wedge(s). 58. Remove the camshaft setting tool. 59. Install the right-hand Variable Valve Timing (VVT) solenoid and bush carrier assembly. Install new ‘O’ ring seals. Tighten to 21 Nm . 60. Remove the crankshaft setting peg 303-645 from the crankshaft position sensor location. 61. Carry out a valve clearance check. For additional information, refer to[Valve Clearance Check]

More powerful than the Honda Civic Coupe, Ford Focus Coupe or Chevrolet Cobalt Coupe, Forte Koup EX is driven by a 2.0-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine, producing 156 horsepower and 144 pound-feet of torque that features Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) and multi-port electronic fuel injection, both of which provide for greater performance and fuel economy. The SX features an
upgraded 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine, also with CVVT, which delivers 173 horsepower and 168 pound-feet of torque, more than the Scion tC. Expanding upon the dynamic look and feel, Forte Koup’s engine hums powerfully courtesy of the dual exhaust outlets outfitted on both EX and SX trims
