1. Remove door latch cover by pulling trim free of retaining clips and sliding trim away from latch. 2. Remove portion of armrest containing door lock switch and window regulator control switch (14529). Trim Panel 3. Remove screw attaching front door trim panel (23942) to front door (20124). 4. Remove two screws located at bottom of front door trim panel. 5. Disconnect the door lock switch (14028) and window regulator control switch electrical connectors. 6. Remove rear view outside mirror mounting hole cover assembly by prying at top and pulling upward to release double-sided clip. 7. Pull front door trim panel from the top to release fasteners from front door. 8. Remove front door trim panel. Disconnect lamp connector. 9. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Replace any bent or damaged fasteners. Body Side Removal and Installation 1. Remove door handle retaining clip by sliding a shop towel between handle and door trim. With tension on the cloth, pull one end of the cloth so it slides between the handle and the door trim. If handle does not come out, reverse direction. 2. Gently pry door latch bezel from door trim. 3. Pull body side trim panel from body side door. 4. To install, reverse Removal procedure. For installation of handle, install clip to handle, then push handle on to shaft to snap in place. Back Removal and Installation 1. Disconnect rear window defroster wires. 2. Remove the liftgate window garnish moulding. Refer to procedure in this section. 3. Remove screws attaching liftgate handle to liftgate and liftgate inside trim panel. 4. Using Rotunda Windshield and Moulding/Trim Removal Kit 107-R0401 or equivalent, pry pushpins retaining liftgate trim from the liftgate. 5. Remove liftgate trim. 6. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Liftgate Door Electrical Connections

Removal Both sides 1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01. Right side 2. NOTE: Release the top portion first. On the RH door, remove the sail panel. 3. Remove the window regulator switchplate (14524). 4. Disconnect the electrical connectors. 5. On the RH door, remove the top door trim panel screw. Both sides 6. Remove the door pull handle screw covers. 7. Remove the door pull handle screws. 8. Position out the inside door handle trim cover. 9. Remove the inside door handle. Remove the bolt. 10. CAUTION: To avoid damage to the front door trim panel, do not pull directly outward. NOTE: On the left front door trim panel, the sail panel remains affixed to the door panel upon removal. Lift upward and then outward to release the front door trim panel (23943). 11. Disconnect the electrical connector. Left side 12. Disconnect all remaining electrical connectors. Both sides 13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Front Town Car The following procedure must be used during removal and installation of the door armrest and trim panel. Refer to the appropriate illustrations for component and vehicle model identification. Removal CAUTION: To avoid breakage of door pull cover(s), insert a screwdriver diagonally between pull strap and chrome bracket. Snap out both sides then remove. 1. Snap out two door pull strap retaining screw covers. Remove screws. 2. Remove two screws on front and rear side of front door trim panel. 3. Using the Trim Pad Removing Tool from Rotunda Moulding/Trim Kit 107-00401 or equivalent, pry the trim panel retaining clips from the door inner panel. NOTE: Do not use front door trim panel (23942) to remove trim clips from door inner panel. Replace any bent, damaged or missing push pins. 4. Remove window regulator control switch housing from back of front door trim panel . Lift up housing, remove retaining screws and disconnect all connectors. 5. Disconnect driver seat regulator control processor switch (driver door only) if equipped. 6. Twist out interior lamp wire assembly and remove the front door trim panel. Installation 1. Ensure plastic watershield is secured to door panel. 2. Position front door trim panel to door. Connect interior lamp wiring. 3. Position the window regulator control switch housing and connect switch connectors. 4. Connect driver seat regulator control processor (14C708) (driver door only) if equipped. 5. Align door lock side to its mating slide on the sheet metal (front doors only) 6. Snap in front door trim panel . Ensure all retainers fit properly. 7. Install two retaining screws on front and rear side of front door trim panel . 8. Install two retaining screws and pull strap covers.

1. CAUTION: Prior to the removal of the module, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to the appropriate diagnostic equipment. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed. For additional information, refer to Module Configuration in this section. CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-00. 2. Remove the driver door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section 501-01. 3. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. 1. Once the DDM is installed, it is necessary to download the module configuration information from the daignostic tool into the new module. Refer to Module Configuration in this section. Front Door Trim Panel 1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to Section 414-00. 2. To remove individual components only, carry out the listed steps. Front Removal 1. Remove window regulator control switch housing by gently prying up, starting at the front. 2. Disconnect all connectors from window regulator control switch housing. 3. Remove inside door handle cup (22634) by gently prying at screwdriver slot with a screwdriver. 4. Remove screw directly beneath inside door handle. 5. Remove lower screw retaining front door trim panel (23942) to door inner panel. 6. On Grand Marquis only, pry up screw covers from door pull handle and remove screws and handle. 7. Lift front door trim panel upward and snap out trim panel. 8. Disconnect wire harnesses from door panel as required and remove front door trim panel. Installation 1. Connect wire harnesses to front door trim panel as required. 2. Install front door trim panel by pushing in and down until it snaps into place. 3. Install all self-tapping screws retaining front door trim panel to door inner panel. 4. On Grand Marquis only, install door pull handle, tighten screws and install screw covers. 5. Install inside door handle cup. 6. Install window regulator control switch housing. Trim Panels, Front Doors
